Subway and Livenation.com have teamed up to bring you A belly full of food, and an evening full of fun all for $10.00. However there is a catch, I know, “how could that be Thom?” Well it’s true, Subway is running a national commercial touting “buy a sandwich, and we’ll entertain you.” Well if they make news on our site than you know there is a catch. What Subway fails to tell you is that this only applies to certain venues across the nation, most of which are in heavily populated cities like Los Angeles.

So now Subway has just boosted sales, and yet you will still not get your concert ticket.

let’s use Nickelback for example; they are going to play a show at Clark county Amphitheater on August 29th 2009. Subway is running their national commercial, so people in Portland Oregon see this. They rush down to their local Subway shop, buy their sandwich and get a voucher to use on livenation.com. Once on that site,the user than sees that the closest venue is actually in California. So now Subway has just boosted sales, and yet you will still not get your concert ticket.

This type of advertising behavior is reminiscent of “bait and switch.” If only 66 venues are participating, shouldn’t subway only be broadcasting to those said cities effected? Why should they, with enough fine print, they can boost sales in any fashion deemed necessary.

We called a few Subway shops across America today that has an arena where Nickelback will be playing, and spoke with some of the employees. We asked the very simple question, “hey, are you participating in that Nickelback concert 5 dollar deal?” And without hesitation we were given the answer yes. We then asked, “how do I get my ticket?” We were told to go to subwayfreshbuzz to get the information. After visiting fresh buzz we were directed to live nation’s site were it shows which venues have the “great deal.” out of the sub shops we called none of them in fact were listed on live nation’s list of venues.
