By now most of America is well informed that there is an issue with some products of peanut butter, or peanut butter paste. The problem is the information you are receiving from news channels across America is either tainted like the butter, or just all around evasive. Back in January, news channels like NBC reported only some of the products from Peanut Corporation of America where infected with Salmonella Typhimurium. It’s as if they were reading Verbatim the press release from PCA. Only after government intervention, was it discovered just how bad Peanut Corporation of America had tried to skirt the issue.

The FDA conducted an inspection of the plant believed to be infected. What they had found was scary at best. the inspectors noted, “Mold was observed growing on the ceiling and walls in the firm’s cooler used for

finished product storage. In addition. water stains were observed running down from the cooling unit fans in the cooler. On 1110/09, pallets of finished product were stored directly beneath this unit.” FDA inspectors made a total of 10 observations. These observations range from utensils contaminated, to the building not being repairable.

Here is a statement from PCA’s website “Peanut Corporation of America is a family-owned and operated business since 1976 based in Lynchburg, VA and operating facilities in Blakely, GA, Suffolk, VA and Plainview, TX. The company prides itself on the quality and freshness of its products and strives constantly to maintain an environment in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and guidelines to
provide a clean, safe product.”
If they take “pride” as they stated how could they let their facility fall in such disrepair that this Salmonella Typhimurium has now killed 8 people and sickened another 575 people.

We will host the FDA’s document that lists the entire scope of the peanut butter recall. So if you are not sure what products are safe, and what are not just look down the list. We just ask that you do not rely on your local news channel for information, since they are not truly investigating this matter. PDF file list of contaminated products.
