If you have bought and recieved furniture from Wickes (you remember Wickes? the company that John Disa bankrupted) using CitiFinancial as your form of payment. Good news, If you have bought this furniture within the last year, and you are having warranty issues then check out the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. You can get a brief description here. In paticular it states ”
Well guess what CitiFinancial, you the conglomerate that you are better get your laywer teams ready. want to know why?
“The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is intended to help consumers with warranty disputes enforce their rights. The Act permits consumers to sue a company that fails to live up to its promises under a warranty. Among other provisions, the Act allows consumers who prevail in suits for breach of warranty under the Act to recover attorney’s fees and court costs, as well as damages and other relief awarded by the court. Enclosed is a brochure that explains your rights and responsibilities under the Act.”
So here is the scenario, you the consumer write a formal dispute of charges to CitiFinancial, within a month they will find some fallacious reason to deny your dispute. Your next step is to head over to ftc and file a formal complaint. The ftc is very quick to review and respond. If you have a valid complaint, you will receive a heart warming e-mail that states you can battle it out with CitiFinancial. Let us remind you, show no mercy when it comes to fighting a giant company, as they will show you know mercy when taking your hard earned money and not honoring their terms of service agreement.”
Another point to consider is this, you have support with the federal trade commission. by filing a complaint you just compound CitiFinancials headache. If your claim is denied by the ftc atleast you were heard and Citi got another bad mark on their record.

I bought some furniture from Wickes on credit. I have not received a bill from them or Citi–the company that financed wickes furniture. Checked my credit report and I do not see anything from wickes or CIti. I guess they forgot about my account. I don’t mind at all! I guess the furniture is mine without making a single payment.

I purchased a living room set, bedroom set, bunk beds and kitchen set in Oct 2007 only to have Wickes go out of business 6 months later. The sales representative never mentioned anything about Wickes going out of business she just sold me the warranty. Now here I am a few years later and unable to get my furniture fixed. I called the warrantly company back in Dec 2007- Jan 2008 to get my high table fixed but I kept getting the run around saying the new table was ordered and was on “back order” because they had none on stock. I feel like I was lied to and taken advantage of. I paid alot of money for the warranty only to be stuck. I am in the Arrmy and do not make a whole lot of money to be throwing away. I would like some answers or help. Thanks
